I plan to continue the series because I’m in my fantasy era 💁🏻♀️🧚♀️and it was such an intriguing cast of characters and plot! I’m also in my young adult era and I adored the fiery and persevering protagonist, Jude。 She was so determined and filled with rage。 Understandably so, because her half sister’s father, Prince Madoc, murdered her mother and father (this was chapter one)。 As one of only two humans not living as a servant in faerie land (Jude and her sister Taryn), she is ever a misfit, the target for bullying, and she feels powerless。I enjoyed the edgy tension in this book。 It didn’t feel forced (unlike Fourth Wing) and Jude was a complex character。 I got to see her rich inner world and admire her tenacity。 In fact, even the antagonists are nuanced characters。 Neither all good nor all evil。 My favorite fiction is the fiction that subtlety challenges my biases。 The bad guys aren’t all bad。 The good guys aren’t all good。 Which is real life。 Real life wars and people are always a mixture of good and evil; it’s part of our humanity。We have inner wars with ourselves too and I love the exploration Jude goes through with the concept of nature vs nurture。 Is she a murderer because of her nature or because she was raised by a murderer? Are we the way we are because we are morally good on the inside or because the circumstances were ones in which we could flourish and bring out the best parts of ourselves? The ending had a twist I did not see coming! The inner workings of the throne politics was fascinating and so well written。 I cannot wait to continue the series! This was such a wild ride of a YA fantasy read 😅✨”You’re like a story that hasn’t happened yet。 I want to see what you can do。 I want to be part of the unfolding of the tale。” 。。。more
Aislinn Ramírez,
Even though everyone start this series for the romance between main characters, you won't find much advance in that field in this first book。 However, if you like fantasy political systems, worldbuilding and character's development, then this is your book。 I did like Jude's character and how realistic her human thoughts and feelings are。 I find Cardan's character a little confusing, but even if he has done many questionable choices or "jokes", I can deny it gives Jude interesting featuresfor her Even though everyone start this series for the romance between main characters, you won't find much advance in that field in this first book。 However, if you like fantasy political systems, worldbuilding and character's development, then this is your book。 I did like Jude's character and how realistic her human thoughts and feelings are。 I find Cardan's character a little confusing, but even if he has done many questionable choices or "jokes", I can deny it gives Jude interesting featuresfor her development alongside the plot。 。。。more
Sehra 🌊,
Well I must say it was at the beginning kind of boring but at the middle of the book I couldn’t put it down。 Jude’s character development was shockingly good。 I love how she is kind of an introvert but she can not be so she is on the outside an extrovert(understandable)。 I hope the next ones are better but all in one the aesthetic of faire is astonishing beautiful。

Jude has my heart

Ending was fabulous!
Nish Tandon,
So riveting start to finish。 I read the whole book in day and am struggling with waiting till tomorrow to start the next one。 There’s twists and turns and the book keeps you guessing。 Oh and let’s not forget the strong female lead。 Jude is a badass in every way and can’t help but admire her。 I’m not usually a fantasy person but this rivals ACOTAR。 I’d say the writing is even better than ACOTAR。 Fewer grammatical errors (sorry SJM but it’s true)。
Iris Van Der Meulen,
Where do I get even start。 What the actual f*ck。 Those plottwists damn。 This women knows how to write a g0ddamn good book。 The characters were on fire。 I live for the tension between Cardan and Jude。 This book got me from the beginning till the end。 Dont have words to describe how good this book is so you just have to read it

Maybe a bit overrated and I don't fully understand the hype over it - it's still very enjoyable and will definitely read the others !I hate Taryn with my whole being and hope I will never meet her。 The main character being so shady and with so many flaws and almost an horrible personnality is something I've not known very often and that's what made it, for me。 The horns, wings and tails was a bit off , on the other hand 。。。 Maybe a bit overrated and I don't fully understand the hype over it - it's still very enjoyable and will definitely read the others !I hate Taryn with my whole being and hope I will never meet her。 The main character being so shady and with so many flaws and almost an horrible personnality is something I've not known very often and that's what made it, for me。 The horns, wings and tails was a bit off , on the other hand 。。。 。。。more

Door tijdsgebrek heb ik het in stukjes moeten lezen met veel tijd tussen。 Hierdoor heb ik niet echt de feeling gekregen met het boek, jammer genoeg。 Ik kijk wel uit naar het volgende boek 😎

This book was insane。 Going into it I expected a romantic fantasy considering the chatter around Jude and Cardan but this book had everything from political unrest to coming of age aspects to it。 It's a great read that kept me hooked from the start。 The author did a great job of making all the characters in the book morally grey, there wasn't a single character without flaws。 I loved Jude, she never gives up, is extremely determined and incredibly smart。 Cardan didn't really show up much in the This book was insane。 Going into it I expected a romantic fantasy considering the chatter around Jude and Cardan but this book had everything from political unrest to coming of age aspects to it。 It's a great read that kept me hooked from the start。 The author did a great job of making all the characters in the book morally grey, there wasn't a single character without flaws。 I loved Jude, she never gives up, is extremely determined and incredibly smart。 Cardan didn't really show up much in the first half of the book but when he did show up in the second half, he absolutely shone as a great lead。 Looking forward to continuing the series! 。。。more

This series was recommended to me by so many people and I think it's a good reminder that a lot of these Romantasy genre books are meant for the YA lot。。。 It was an interesting story and I like the main character, Jude。 The fact that she struggles with her desire for revenge and power is a nice change of pace from the usual MC tropes; she's a little evil and she leans into it。 But the level of writing to me was a bit adolescent and clumsy。 On the plus side, it makes it a very quick read。 I'm hop This series was recommended to me by so many people and I think it's a good reminder that a lot of these Romantasy genre books are meant for the YA lot。。。 It was an interesting story and I like the main character, Jude。 The fact that she struggles with her desire for revenge and power is a nice change of pace from the usual MC tropes; she's a little evil and she leans into it。 But the level of writing to me was a bit adolescent and clumsy。 On the plus side, it makes it a very quick read。 I'm hoping book 2 is a step up on the writing style and complexity because Im really looking forward to reading more about Jude and Cardan's relationship。 。。。more
